AERIAL

Having getting inspiration from the spectacular results from folk using their drones filming and taking pictures in the mountains I became interested in acquiring a drone for myself. At first the size and the camera limitations put me off. That was until I saw DJI release their Mavic 2 series. These had an improved camera, with the promise of Hasselblad being involved at some stage in the development, but more importantly the drone itself is portable enough to go in my rucksack. Being around the same weight as one of my camera bodies with a telephoto lens I went on to acquire the Mavic 2 Pro drone. After watching many instructional videos I took my maiden flight on a local hill to get to grips with it. Not much footage, if any, was usable so it was back to learning more about the techniques involved. Eventually I was confident enough to start flying the drone in the high Cairngorms and beyond.
