THE CAIRNGORMS : AUTUMN + WINTER
The Cairngorm National Park in autumn is a period of transition. Small patches of snow may remain in the corries from the previous winter with the promise of new snowfall at any time. From November to February the days are short and the nights long and the weather changeable with the corries and the high arctic plateaux more akin to Iceland and Norway than the Alps. In the winter months the Park is an environment that can be both beautiful and wild as it reverts back to its true wilderness.
Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons in the Cairngorms.
